26.08.2019 Tips for Your Home by Mary Maidiotis Spring Cleaning Guide: Part 2 Part Two: The Bathroom Spring is in the air! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, the sunshine is beaming into your home. Open the windows and breathe new air into your home with a good spring clean. To motivate you to get started, we've created a four-part series to help you break down the process room-by-room. The Bathroom Since this room is usually the one to get dirtiest easily, it requires extra attention during cleaning time. Your bathroom deserves a makeover, leaving it shiny and spotless! We're giving you some simple tasks to tackle to make the dreaded chore a breeze. Declutter Are your cabinets and drawers overflowing? By eliminating clutter first, it will make it much easier to clean your bathroom top-to-bottom. Beware Expiry Dates Your medicine cabinet is usually filled with medicine, make-up, skincare or hair products which you've collected over the years. Take the time to sort through everything and throw away expired products. Unused and Unloved Even if the items in your bathroom cabinet have no expiry, if they have been sitting there for extended periods of time without being used, it's probably a good indication that you should throw them out. The same goes with any empty bottles you may be hoarding. Reorganise and Redecorate When putting items back in your cabinet, take a look at the packaging they come in. Remove any unnecessary packaging such as boxes, or decant products into clear containers. Take it a step further and use baskets to neatly organise everything from moisturiser to towels! Clean Cleaning the bathroom can be a much-loathed task but the end result is worth the effort! Wash it All Away If your shower curtain is made of plastic or vinyl, you can pop it in your washing machine for a quick clean. The windows in your bathroom are also prone to grime and soap scum, so give these a good wash too. Freshen Up An often overlooked spot in the bedroom is the drain itself. Freshen drains and unclog them with simple home solutions using baking soda, vinegar and hot water! Down and Grout A quick clean of grout to remove discolouration can make all the difference to your bathroom. After cleaning your tiles, check for any broken seals which need replacing. A Deep Clean Every surface and fixture requires a good scrub in this room. Thoroughly clean the sinks, shower, bathtub, toilet and mirrors. Don't forget to also carefully clean the taps and the shower head, as well as any vents or fans. Rejuvenate After the cleaning is done, give your space new life with some much-needed updates and additions. Add a Touch of Luxe Treat your bathroom to some new decor. Add some greenery with an indoor plant, a painting for a splash of colour, plus some scented candles which will leave your bathroom smelling much nicer than a household air freshener. Privacy in Your Private Space If your bathroom windows have been left bare because you are unsure which treatments work best in this humid room, we can help. Increase your privacy with moisture-resistant coverings, or keep window treatments external to avoid conflict with the bathroom's environmental factors. There is no better time to update your window coverings than spring. Contact Somfy to obtain a quote for motorised window coverings for the bathroom, or even prep your outdoor area for the warmer weather.
