As the most personal room in the house, it is likely that privacy will be your number one concern, especially if your bathroom is situated at the front of your home or faces a neighbouring property. If this is the case, avoid sheer fabrics or opt for venetians which can be tilted/closed for optimal control of privacy and light.

Durability

The bathroom environment is vulnerable to humidity and therefore prone to water damage, mould and mildew. Choose moisture-resistant fabrics such as plastic or vinyl to lower your maintenance duties in the bathroom, or opt for light materials that will dry quickly on their own to prevent smelly window treatments.

Light Control

Many bathrooms, especially bathrooms in older homes that haven't been recently renovated aren't always as bright as we might like. If your bathroom lacks light, you will want to stay away from dark, heavy materials. Consider a roller blind in a light colour to maximise privacy while still allowing light in. Alternatively, venetians offer precise control of light and privacy.

Otherwise, you might prefer to keep your window treatments external (such as roller shutters, external venetians or external screens) to avoid conflict with the bathroom's environmental factors.
